Charter Communications, based in Stamford, Connecticut, bought Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks in 2016. Spectrum is the company’s consumer-facing name. The acquisition of Spectrum makes it the second-largest internet service provider in the United States. As of 2022, Spectrum served 28 million residential broadband customers across 41 states.
Spectrum’s cable network, like other cable companies, provides fast downloads but relatively slower uploads to most of its users. Spectrum, on the other hand, does not impose a data cap, unlike many other ISPs. By the end of 2023, Spectrum was obligated by the FCC as part of its 2016 acquisition to eliminate data caps, and it now says it has no plans to do so.
Spectrum’s cable network also offers TV and home phone service, but these aren’t services that many of its customers use. Over 15 million people in the United States subscribed to the company’s video service as of 2022.
Spectrum may be able to save you money by bundling your cable internet and television service. However, if you want to bundle your internet with your Spectrum TV service, you’ll be limited to download speeds of 200 Mbps. Currently, Spectrum offers Two different bundle packages. These are:
- Spectrum double play package (Tv and internet)
- Spectrum Triple Bundles package (TV, phone and Internet)
But which Spectrum package is the greatest deal? Whether you want to pay less or receive more channels is a personal preference. Look at the available Spectrum cable bundles and determine which one is right for you.
It’s only roughly $13 extra per month than merely getting Spectrum Internet with 200 Mbps speeds if you’re looking for the best deal.
Spectrum Double Play Select delivers more than 125 channels and the same 200 Mbps* download speeds for less than $100 a month if you prefer TV. With this deal, you’ll pay roughly $5 less each month than if you purchased Spectrum Internet and Spectrum TV Select separately.
A guide to choosing the ideal Spectrum TV and Internet bundle
Trying to decide between Spectrum’s many cable packages? To help you get started, here are a few pointers.
Look at the value you get for the money you spend
Only the quantity of channels and whether or not you get phone service change depending on how much you pay each month with Spectrum. Regardless of which bundle you choose, you’ll get the same up to 200 Mbps internet speeds.
Instead of focusing on phone features, examine which channels come with your Spectrum TV plan if you don’t need them. If you’re having trouble deciding between Spectrum TV and other options, know that you’re not the only one.
Examine the channel’s products
No matter the package you choose from Spectrum bundles, you’ll get a wide range of TV channels. In any case, it’s worth investigating whether you’ll receive better content for your money or just additional channels you won’t watch. Another alternative is to buy a bundle and a premium channel add-on for a lower price.
Make sure your internet connection is fast enough
There aren’t many options for Spectrum’s bundles; all of them come with download speeds of 200 Mbps. It’s a good thing, too, because those speeds can handle up to four people, a home office, gaming, video streaming, and a slew of other gadgets.
If you have more than five people using your internet or running a home company, we advise you to search elsewhere for higher connections. For additional information, see our internet speed recommendations.
Spectrum is best suited to:
- Those in need of fast internet access at their residence
- Users of large amounts of data
- Bundled service for the customers
Spectrum is not suitable for the following:
- Affluent yet frugal consumers with modest data requirements
- Those who are in constant need of high-speed uploads
The internet service provider Spectrum has a great reputation. As one of the best Internet service providers in 2022, Spectrum is ranked fifth in our list of the best Internet service providers. Spectrum will cover up to $500 of the cancellation fees for an existing service if you wish to discontinue it.
Download speeds range from 200 megabits per second (Mbps) to 1 gigabit per second (Gbps). Speeds will vary depending on where you are and what you are doing. Streaming 4K and ultra-high quality video, playing online games, and other frequent activities at home may all be done with enough internet speeds of 200 Mbps or higher.
Spectrum doesn’t have data caps, which is a huge plus. Suppose you go over a specific level of data usage in a billing month. In that case, several rivals will delay or limit your internet access. With Spectrum’s current internet plans, that is simply not possible. You don’t have to rent a modem with this plan as an additional perk.
